They are nice to have, but they’re not crucial, and that’s a big point to the developers of HitFilm Express, who created a great app that is a very useable editor and rivals almost all other packages in its price range. But to be fair, as long as you’re working in traditional 2D media, you can build an edit, even a relatively complex one without those add-ons. As you scroll through the Effects menu, you’ll come across a fair number that are greyed out with ‘Add On’ in reddish orange to their right. When it comes to features, unlike other free software this one is power-packed. The software is free, although considered us the younger brother of the pro version it comes with a lot of powerful video editing features that you can get for absolutely nothing and its a great catch, both Mac and PC are supported by the software so you don't have to worry about sharing project files and also a lot of people can take advantage of this free software from hitfilm irrespective of the operating system they are using.
